Grandma talks.
The memories stay forever.
A story
Every word is written down, the way she said it.
- Here Grandpa Arthur tells how the boat shed was fixed.
- At the top: who told it, the year, and a short summary.
- Below, his own words, unchanged.

The family tree
Whoever she names appears in the family tree.
- Every person is a flower in their own colour.
- The lines show who belongs to whom: couples, children, brothers and sisters.
- Nobody has to be typed in. The tree grows from the stories.

The timeline
What happened when, across a whole life.
- Decade by decade, from the year someone was born.
- Each story stands at its year, with who told it.

The questions
When something is unclear, we ask you instead of guessing.
- “Is Tommy the same as Uncle Tom?” One tap is the answer.
- Each question names the story it comes from.
- Your answers become part of the story.

The next visit
Next visit, the next story. Five stories are free.
- Choose whose story it is today.
- A question is ready, for the years nobody has told about yet.
- Tap the flower, put the phone down and listen.

Five stories are free. No card, nothing to install. Open the sample family yourself.
Pricing
How much time is there?
Low and slow, a story at each visit for years. Or everything now, which is the expensive way. Try it first with the demo.
Demo
To see how it works, and to record the first one: the story you have meant to get for years.
Then €8.25 a month, paid by the year, to keep going.
- 5 stories in total
- Recordings up to 10 minutes
- 10 questions a month
- Family tree, timeline and books
Got time
For one story at a time, over years. The cheap way, and the full one.
€99 a year. Or by the month: €12.
- 7 new stories every week
- Recordings up to 30 minutes
- 100 questions a month
- Cancel any time
No time to lose
For getting everything down now, while there is still the chance. The expensive way.
Paid once. It ends by itself.
- 40 new stories every week
- Recordings up to 60 minutes
- Your recordings are kept: listen again any time
- Ask as much as you like
- No subscription: nothing renews
Your stories never get locked. If you stop paying, everything you have kept stays readable and downloadable. Only adding more pauses.
There is always a later. Until there isn't.
You love them. You want to hold on to who they are, not a few photographs. Don't let that slip.
Almost everyone means to ask one day. Almost no one does, and the answers go with the person who knew them.
You need no project and no free weekend. You need the next visit. Start with one story.
Low and slow
One story at each visit, as it comes up, for years. You are not making a keepsake of them. You are holding on to the whole person, in full.
All at once
When there is no time left: as much as you can, as fast as you can. It works, and it is the expensive way, in money and in what a hurried season leaves out.
A book can be made from it at any time. This is not an artifact of them. It is the attempt to hold on to the whole person.
How it works
It is a conversation. That is all you have to do.
Phone on the table
Open forgetmenot and tap the flower.
Just listen
Ten minutes or an hour. If it stalls, a gentle question appears.
Done. It is in order.
Written down and sorted by people, places and years. There is nothing to file.
A little at a time
Not a weekend of interviews. One story at each visit.
at the first visit
after three months
after a year
A few minutes at each visit are enough. Each story is safe the moment you finish.
Living far apart? Set it up for them and give them the login. Then they tell the phone themselves, whenever something comes to mind.
What you have afterwards
It is all there when you need it.
Their words
Every story as text: read, search, correct.
The family tree
Who belongs to whom, built from what was told.
A timeline
What happened when, across a whole life.
Answers
Ask "How did Grandma and Grandpa meet?" and the story opens.
A book
A PDF book of the stories whenever you want one, or everything as files. The whole stays here.
Their voice
With the plan "No time to lose" the recordings are kept too. You hear them tell it again.
Questions
Do my parents or grandparents need to do anything technical?
No. They talk; you hold the phone. They need no account and no device. If they would like to write or record by themselves, you can give them your login.
Do I need to install an app?
No. forgetmenot runs in the browser. On your phone it is made for recording; on a computer it is for reading, exploring, bringing in letters and documents, and making a book. Keep the phone's screen on while a recording runs.
How accurate is the written text?
It is written down by software and can contain mistakes, especially with names. That is why you can correct any text, and when something is unclear, forgetmenot asks you instead of guessing. With the plan "No time to lose" the recording is kept too, so you can listen again.
What if the connection drops while we record?
Nothing is lost. The recording is kept on the phone while it runs and sent in parts. If the connection drops, or the page is closed, what was said waits on the phone and is sent as soon as there is a connection again.
Do they have to agree to be recorded?
Yes. Before the first recording of a person, forgetmenot shows you a few sentences to read to them, and asks you to confirm that they agreed. They can say stop at any time, and any story can be deleted later.
Who can see our stories?
Only you, through your account. We do not sell them, show them to others or use them for advertising. You can delete a story or your whole account at any time; a deleted story waits in the trash for 30 days in case it was a mistake. Details are in the privacy policy.
Which languages work?
A recording is written down in the language that is spoken. The app itself is in English and in German; you choose it under "Account".
What if I only manage one story a month?
Then in a year you have twelve stories you would not have had. That is the point: steady, small, and started now.
The next time you see them, press record.
You love them. Hold on to the whole of them. Set it up now: it takes a couple of minutes, and then it is ready when you sit down together.
